All About Junior Kindergarten
Jr. Kindergarten differs from kindergarten in that it provides a transition between preschool and kindergarten for students who are chronologically old enough for kindergarten, but may need a little more time to mature.
*Junior kindergarten runs all day/everyday and follows the regular Lennox School District calendar.
*Students must be 5 on or before Sept. 1st of the current school year to be eligible for junior kindergarten.
*Class size is limited to 17 students.
*The academic focus is on letter/sound recognition, rhyming, beginning sounds, basic sight words, prereading skills, number sense to 20, patterning, and sequencing.
*Fine motor skills are incorporated throughout the day.
*Strong social skills are taught with kindergarten readiness a main focus of our day.
